May 2023_Spring Flowers and Healing

Alaskan Fireweed on EVERYTHING!
Alaskan Fireweed on EVERYTHING!

May is a month of hope and anticipation. The sun is shining brightly and the snow is melting quickly. I am excited about my garden and flowers. And painting, of course.

I had my right knee replaced April 19th, so I am moving slowly. I had my left knee replaced last year and everything went fine so I’m looking forward to a matching set of strong new knees this year. But no marathons… Not that I ever did marathons…

After our extended vacations; January-March (Philippines, Brazil, Panama and Spain) I am anxious to be home and creating art from my adventures and reference photos.

My husband and I plan to travel the first quarter of every year to rejuvenate and explore. We will do this as long as we are physically capable. We are considering these years our “go-go” years and plan to take advantage of our health, time and money. This is the one time in our lives when we have all three available.

I started working on a few commissions this month and completed this beautiful “Alyeska Glow” scene. The skier is the client’s son and the photograph was taken by their other son, so it’s very special. They suggested the northern lights and I think it turned out great. It was a very nice touch :-)

Mom’s day is May 14th, one of my favorite days of the year. My mom passed away 10 years ago but I know she is still enjoying all of my creations from above. All of my flowers and accessories are wonderful as a gift for mom, yourself, and everyone!!!  I keep adding to my collections, and it is like Christmas for me because I HAVE to order one of everything I create… So I receive nonstop packages delivered to my front door of my beautiful art pieces. Pretty fun.

Here are some of my newest creations.

I absolutely love this Alaska Fireweed design. It is reprinted on kitchen towels aprons, blankets, yoga mats, water bottles, trivets and….

Well, whatever else I can come up with!

In April I did a fun paint party fundraiser for BIRD TLC. We had a full room of artists and everybody had a great time. It’s so fun how everyone is painting the same picture but they all have their own unique style. “Girdie” the raven painted as well and she did a great job. It was fun to teach this class and donate to a good cause.  Sign up for my newsletter so you will know about upcoming events and paint parties.
